So far this summer, six players have left Manchester City. Kevin De Bruyne and Scott Carson left the club after their contracts expired. Young centre-back Juma Bah completed a loan move to Nice for next season. Kyle Walker, Yan Couto and Maximo Perrone were sold to Burnley, Borussia Dortmund and Como. Now it seems that Jahmai Simpson-Pusey will be the next player to leave the club. He’s quick, he’s dominant, he’s a good defender, and of course, at Celtic, your centre-backs need to be able to progress the ball, and that’s a big strength of his. We’ve taken him on loan for a year. We always need all our centre-backs at Celtic. You play so many games, so many intense games and he will join our squad.

A loan move to Celtic is a good move for Jahmai Simpson-Pusey.

A loan move to play at a higher level is the logical next step in the career of Jahmai Simpson-Pusey. The young centre-back has pretty much done all he can at the youth level for Manchester City. He now needs to play at a higher level to grow as a player. Given that City’s squad is stacked with centre-backs a loan move makes perfect sense for the young defender.

Playing at Celtic comes with pressure to succeed and to play and perform at a high level. The Scottish giants are the dominant force in Scottish football and are expected to contend for and win silverware every season. The high-pressure environment could be the ideal setting for Jahmai Simpson-Pusey to grow as a centre-back. Brendan Rodgers’ side plays attacking and possession-based football, so that should provide Simpson-Pusey with an environment in which he is familiar. The Scottish Premier League is also a physical competition and that should aid Simpson-Pusey’s physical and defensive development.

It seems that Jahmai Simpson-Pusey is now on the verge of joining Celtic on loan for the 25/26 season. That should be a good move for the young centre-back as he looks to grow as a player next season.
