Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. is not the only leading figure in Spain’s capital expected to miss out on an expected award at tonight’s Ballon d’Or ceremony.

That’s according to Diario AS, who have provided an insight into the latest word stemming from Paris ahead of tonight’s gala.

The headline news across the world of football on Monday has of course come in the form of confirmation that Vinícius – previously considered the runaway favourite to lift the prize – has not been named as the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner.

Instead, the ‘Golden Ball’ is set to go to Manchester City midfielder Rodri.

And yet, as alluded to above, Vinícius is not the only high-profile member of the first-team setup at Real Madrid set to be left disappointed on Monday evening.

So too, it is understood, will be Carlo Ancelotti.

Italian tactician Ancelotti was named amongst the nominees for Coach of the Year at the Ballon d’Or.

As per a report from the aforementioned AS, however, the 65-year-old is set to miss out on the prize.

Despite leading Real to glory on both the domestic and continental fronts last season, Ancelotti, it is understood, has been pipped in the voting by Spanish national team boss Luis de la Fuente.
