As Cristiano Ronaldo reinforced afterwards, Al Nassr are creeping closer to that coveted Roshn Saudi League title.
Their captain had certainly played his part, Ronaldo setting his side on their way to victory with the opener in the 2-0 victory at Al Okhdood in Najran on Saturday night.
On 15 minutes, the Portuguese superstar ran onto Nawaf Boushal’s pass, burst past the hosts’ defence and slammed his shot past goalkeeper Samuel Portugal.
It represented Ronaldo’s 24th goal of the RSL season, bringing to two-time golden boot winner back within three of Ivan Toney at the top of the 2025-26 scoring charts. Remarkably, it was the 968th goal of Ronaldo’s unrivalled professional career.
From there, Al Nassr edged to a 14th league win on the bounce - a club record - Joao Felix pouncing on a rebound two minutes into the second half to double the visitor’s advantage.
Ronaldo’s compatriot, Felix is enjoying a fine debut campaign in the Kingdom: this marked his 16th RSL goal, while the summer signing from Chelsea sits joint-top in the division for assists, with 11.
However, Al Nassr are out in front all on their own. With six rounds remaining, Jorge Jesus’ men hold a five-point lead at the summit, with a Karim Benzema-inspired Al Hilal their closest challengers and Asian champions Al Ahli a further two points back.
The 2018-19 champions appear primed to land a first top-flight title in seven years. Not that Ronaldo is taking anything for granted.
“Another step forward,” the Man of the Match posted on social media. “Together as one, focused on what we want. Thank you to the fans for always being with us.”
