Antonio Blanco’s contract stance has put Deportivo Alavés on alert, with the midfielder not planning to extend beyond 2027 after twice rejecting new terms, potentially opening the door to suitors.
According to Superdeporte, the club wanted his deal pushed past June 2027 but the sides remain far apart, so the summer window could be crucial if Alavés seek a fee.
Blanco became a mainstay after joining permanently in 2023 for around four million euros following a loan from Real Madrid. He played 36 matches in his first full season, then 37 the next, and has nearly 30 outings this term across the league and the Copa del Rey.
He is among the squad’s highest earners and a dressing-room reference. Complicating any deal, Real Madrid still hold 50% of his rights, so half of any fee would go to them. ACF Fiorentina made an offer last summer, but a gap in valuations blocked an agreement.
With one year fewer on his contract, the landscape now looks different. Blanco has senior Spain experience after standing out in the youth ranks, including the Under-21 qualifiers and European Championship, and earlier at Under-19 level, which underpins his market value.
