Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos was re-elected president of the Federação Paulista de Futebol on Wednesday and will serve until 2030. The CBMA authorised the election after a court had suspended it the previous day.
The federation said in a statement that the CBMA, which rules on statute matters, cleared the electoral assembly to proceed. The independent Electoral Commission then convened the assembly.
He has led the federation since 2015. Under the FPF statute this is his final reappointment, so he cannot stand again. If he completes the term he will have headed the federation for 15 years.
He was the sole candidate and was chosen unanimously by acclamation. His vice-presidents will be Fernando Sollero and Mauro Silva.
For a slate to register, at least 12 clubs must endorse it, with five from A1, three A2, two A3, one from the Second Division and one amateur league. His ticket had near-unanimous backing across the top four divisions, with only Desportivo Brasil not subscribing due to bureaucratic issues.
Lawyer Wilson Marqueti, a former São Paulo sports court prosecutor, attempted to run but did not secure the required endorsements.
The ballot had been challenged over alleged irregularities in the approval of the current statute, which enabled one more reappointment, and an amateur league from Mauá won a suspension from judge Débora Vanessa Caús Brandão. Following the CBMA decision, the FPF went ahead with the vote.
