Two goals in the first half and another two after the break helped Real Madrid to a 4-1 win over Elche last night, continuing their hot run of form and setting up for the side to boost their momentum.

Antonio Rudiger opened the scoring on the night before Federico Valverde scored his fourth goal in two games to make it 2-0 for Real Madrid.

After the break, Dean Huijsen scored for Los Blancos before Arda Guler made it four with a stunning strike from his half.

Goalscorer speaks

Speaking after the game, the Real Madrid midfielder opened up on his wonder strike.

“I’m very happy, it was a great goal. I looked at the goalkeeper, and he is not well-positioned. I tried and [it was a] great goal.”

The midfielder was then asked what the win meant to the team, especially given how it came after the gruelling challenge and win over Manchester City.

“We were a little tired, but we knew we had to win this game.

Therefore, it has been important to be able to count on all the young players, since with the support of the youth players, we were able to play a good game and get a clear victory.”

Guler then spoke on what Alvaro Arbeloa expected of him on the field and what his role was in Real Madrid’s on-field dynamics.

“We get along very well with the coach. We are with him both in the good times and in the difficult ones. Today, after the goal, I went to celebrate with him and everyone.

“The coach asks me for different things, depending on the position,” he added.

“When I play on my own field he wants me to get more involved in the start, and when I’m more ahead, he asks me to play more between the lines and be deep.

I always try to do the best I can,” he concluded.

Finally, he revealed he was looking forward to the upcoming game against Manchester City.

“Yes, we have to go out to look for the game from the beginning, and so we can score more goals.”
