Inter Milan talisman Lautaro Martinez is finally back in contention for the starting lineup as the Nerazzurri gear up for a mouth-watering clash against Roma.
According to Sky Sport Italia via FCInter1908, El Toro is set to make his first Serie A start since early February.
Despite missing each of Inter’s three Serie A fixtures last month, Lautaro Martinez remains the division’s top scorer.
Indeed, the 28-year-old tallied 14 league goals this term, three more than second-placed Como striker Anastasios Douvikas.
Lautaro has spearheaded Inter’s title charge under Cristian Chivu, becoming the driving force behind the Nerazzurri’s attacking prowess.
To put the Argentine’s importance in perspective, Inter have averaged 2.2 goals per game with El Toro in the squad.
Meanwhile, they have netted just under a goal per match on average without their captain.
Inter have failed to win three consecutive Serie A games for the first time since 2023.
Needless to say, Lautaro was not in the team on each occasion, further highlighting his irreplaceable role in Chivu’s attacking setup.
Furthermore, Inter are now only six points clear of second-placed AC Milan, with eight games left to play.
Therefore, they will be keen to bounce back this weekend, and Lautaro’s expected return bodes well.
