Palmeiras beat Botafogo 2-1 at Allianz Parque, with Abel Ferreira’s reshaped front line starring and Arias outstanding. According to Globo.com, the player ratings highlighted stand-out displays from Arias, Flaco López and Allan.
The hosts led when Andreas Pereira’s drive was turned into the net by Allan. Seven minutes into the second half, the Colombian punished a Ferraresi error, bursting into the area to score his first Palmeiras goal. Danilo replied 13 minutes after the restart, but Palmeiras held firm.
Carlos Miguel had little to do, making a clean catch from a long-range Barrera strike on 38 minutes. Gustavo Gómez was assured, and Murilo returned from a left knee sprain with an almost flawless display.
Ferreira’s tweak put Arias centrally with licence to drift, Flaco often starting from the left, Allan wide right and Maurício higher. The balance brought fluency, with Andreas influential on the ball.
Off the bench, Ramón Sosa replaced Maurício at 25 minutes of the second half, with Lucas Evangelista and Vitor Roque introduced a minute later. Felipe Anderson came on at 39 minutes. Late on, Larson was denied from close range after Evangelista led a counter.
