Arne Slot acknowledged Liverpool were second best throughout their 0-2 defeat at PSG, as focus shifted to Fulham on Saturday and the Anfield return on Tuesday.
According to L'Équipe, the Liverpool manager spoke on Friday morning before hosting Fulham at 18:30, noting his side resume league duty while PSG have no Ligue 1 match this weekend.
He said it was fair to accept they had been outplayed for 90 minutes, adding they had faced the Champions of Europe. The positive, he felt, was the chance, four days on, to show they can be far more competitive at Anfield.
Looking to the second leg, Slot can also call on Alexander Isak’s growing sharpness, and the Swede should get more minutes against Fulham than at the Parc, where he came on in the 78th minute.
Alisson is out of Saturday’s match, and Slot would not look beyond that. He said the goalkeeper is working hard to return and that this is very positive, but he will not be selected this weekend.
Slot underlined the importance of supporter backing, praising travelling fans who sang before the warm-up despite a previous 0-4 loss and continued after the game. He added he feels completely supported by Fenway Sports Group, as well as Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards, and by the fans.
