Mohamed Salah will be out for Liverpool against Brighton, with Arne Slot hopeful he can return for the Reds after the international break.
Salah will therefore miss the trip to the south coast, and is likely to be out of Egypt’s internationals against Saudi Arabia and Spain.
Should Salah’s rehabilitation go well, then the 33-year-old could return for the FA Cup quarter-final against Man City.
“Unusual [that he is injured],” Slot said. “I think you expect the outcome so he is not available for tomorrow.
“Good thing for Liverpool is we go to international break, bad news for Egypt, he can't go there. We hope that what Mo has shown in the past, he can recover faster than other players.
“He takes such good care of his body that he can be back earlier than others, as history has shown. Only two weeks until we go again.”
Slot has meanwhile lauded Salah’s impact in the Champions League victory over Galatasaray.
“His first half was not too bad,” Slot said. “Whole team played well. Individuals, it's helpful if the teams play well. They can then shine.
“It says a lot about his mental strength, but that comes with age. If you miss chances, the older you get, the better you get at handling situations like this.
“He has always done this really well. He has done this so well in his career, to shut it down and create a goal and an assist, it is the experience he has."
Slot then provided an update on Joe Gomez: “He wasn't able to come in, we tried to postpone it as often as we could [against Galatasaray], maybe a miracle can happen I told him, if we needed him in extra time. He might be - might be - available tomorrow, but not to start.”
