Aron Dönnum has been reinstated to the Toulouse squad for Wednesday’s Coupe de France quarter-final at Marseille, kick-off 21:00, after missing the last two matches.
According to L'Équipe, the Norway international, capped 17 times with 2 goals, was left out for the 1-1 draw with Paris FC and the 0-1 defeat at Rennes on 21 and 28 February because of his behaviour in the dressing room after the 1-2 loss at Le Havre.
Head coach Carles Martinez Novell said Dönnum will be with the squad for what he called the most important match of their season. He declined to detail the reasoning behind the club’s two-match sanction for the former Standard Liège player.
Toulouse also welcome back Venezuelan international Cristian Casseres, 44 caps, who was suspended for Saturday’s defeat in Brittany. Centre-back and usual captain Rasmus Nicolaisen, sidelined at Roazhon Park with a hamstring problem, is not certain to return.
Martinez Novell noted that new Marseille coach Habib Beye has made changes, and stressed that courage will matter most. He pointed to November’s league meeting at the Vélodrome, when Toulouse equalised at the last second for 2-2. The Spaniard, assistant to Philippe Montanier for the 5-1 Coupe de France win over Nantes nearly three years ago, said they believe and will fight to make it a memorable night.
