Arsenal have announced the signing of Georgia Stanway on a permanent deal following the expiry of her contract at Bayern Munich.
The Lionesses star was part of the side that won two European Championships over the span of four years.
Stanway did that alongside winning four Frauen-Bundesliga titles in Germany and has earned an MBE for her work with the national team.
Stanway announced that she was leaving Bayern Munich in January and has now found her new club.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling and I’m so proud to be joining Arsenal,” said Georgia. “This is a massive club that is driving the women’s game forward to new levels and I want to be a part of it.
“I want to win trophies and grow as a player, and this is the right place to do that with the backing of an incredible fanbase.”
Before moving to Germany, Stanway spent seven seasons at Arsenal’s Women’s Super League rivals, Manchester City.
She made her debut for the club at the age of 16 and now returns to England as a trophy-laden star ready to win more with Arsenal.
Arsenal boss Renee Slegers was full of praise for the midfielder after the move had been announced.
“Georgia is a brilliant midfielder and we’re thrilled that she is an Arsenal player,” she said.
“She will add a new dimension to our midfield, bringing experience and adding to our winning mentality. We look forward to getting down to work in pre-season ahead of a big campaign ahead.”
