In a recent report, journalist James Marshment claimed that Arsenal are in the running to land Newcastle United speedster Anthony Gordon. It has been revealed that the Gunners would have to rival Liverpool in the race to sign the English wide player.

Gordon’s Impressive Form In English Football

Gordon has enjoyed a productive campaign at the Tyneside club after he put in a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 25-year-old has banged in 17 times and earned five assists in 46 matches for Newcastle this season across various competitions.

The English sensation is currently one of the best wide players in the Premier League. Hence, it is no surprise that the Gunners are in the mix to land Gordon this summer.

His current contract at Newcastle will expire in the summer of 2030, which could make it difficult for Arsenal to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.

Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Go For Gordon?

Gordon is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the eye to play some decisive passes in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He can strike the ball with power from long range and can chip in by scoring and creating a lot of important goals for his team. Gordon has got the pace to cause a lot of problems for his marker out on the flanks.

The English sensation is primarily a left-winger, but can also fill in as a right-sided wide player but can also function as a centre-forward if told to do so by his manager. He has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Arsenal.

We can expect Gordon to bring more quality and depth to Mikel Arteta’s frontline. He is good enough to fight for a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming seasons.

At 25, Gordon has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Gunners to consider at the end of this campaign. All in all, Arteta would be wise to go for a player of his quality and depth this summer as long as he can get him for a reasonable price.
