Luis Diaz has been ruled out of Bayern Munich’s Champions League clash with Arsenal next week.

The Colombian was sent off in the Bundesliga sides’s 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month, having scored both of the hosts’ goals in the first half.

Just minutes later, he was given his marching orders for a lunge on right-back Achraf Hakimi, who suffered a sprained ankle.

The former Liverpool forward has now been suspended for three games, meaning that he will miss Bayern’s trip to north London, before home games against Sporting Lisbon and Union Saint-Gilloise next month.

Vincent Kompany, the Bayern boss, had said on Friday that he had expected the winger to be banned for just one game, but he will in fact be ruled out for the German side’s next three European outings.

Bayern top the Champions League table having taken maximum points from their first four games.

Arsenal are second, behind the Bundesliga outfit on goal difference, with Inter Milan third.

The Gunners, meanwhile, are hoping to have a handful of stars back for the north London derby this weekend.

They could include captain Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke, Gabriel Martinelli, Viktor Gyokeres, and Kai Havertz, although Mikel Arteta kept his cards close to his chest at his pre-match press conference.

“We put a lot of energy during the international break, with all the medical staff as well, to try to bring them [back] as quick as possible,” he explained.

“So, tomorrow we have another training session, see how some of them are feeling, whether it is a bit too close to bring them into this game or we feel they can have a contribution in the game. Tomorrow we will have more clarity.
