Nwaneri made six Premier League appearances prior to leaving on loan in January
Nwaneri left the Gunners in the January transfer window, joining Marseille in France on loan for the second half of the season to gain further first team experience.
Despite a goal on debut against Lens, the 19-year-old’s loan spell turned out to be a frustrating one as Roberto De Zerbi departed the Stade Velodrome a few weeks later and the attacking midfielder would go on to struggle for minutes under Habib Beye.
Nwaneri’s last appearance for Marseille was on April 18, playing the final 31 minutes as a substitute in the 2-0 loss against Lorient.
With the Ligue 1 season ending on May 17, Nwaneri’s loan spell has officially expired and he was present in Budapest for the Champions League final loss to Paris Saint-Germain as well as receiving an England call for World Cup training camp.
He will join Alex Scott, Rio Ngumoha and Josh King as a foursome to travel with the group to Miami and join in training with a view to getting minutes in England’s two warm-up games, against New Zealand on June 6 and and Costa Rice on June 10.
Until then, Nwaneri has returned to Arsenal and was spotted on the bus during Sunday’s ‘Champions Parade’ through the streets of north London.
In short, yes. Members of the Arsenal first-team squad receive a Premier League winners’ medal, though to qualify for one, rule C.13 in the Premier League Handbook states the Gunners “will receive 40 commemorative medals, which are made of silver and are 2.25in (5.7cm) in diameter.
“These are "to be presented by the Club to its Manager and to such of its Players and Officials as it thinks fit provided that any Player who has entered the field of play in a minimum of five of its League Matches that Season shall receive from the Club a commemorative medal."
"Additional medals may only be presented with the consent of the Board which shall only be given if the total number of Players who have entered the field of play that Season in a minimum of five of the Club’s League Matches exceeds 39."
As per the Premier League website, at present, 24 Arsenal players - including Nwaneri - played five or more times for the club in the Premier League during the season, so he qualifies for a medal.
