RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško was reportedly on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar during the summer transfer window as they looked for a new goal-scoring option following Kylian Mbappé’s departure.

The Slovenian forward, under contract with Leipzig until 2029, had a strong 2023-24 season, scoring 18 goals and providing two assists in 42 appearances.

PSG was linked with several strikers over the summer, but sporting advisor Luis Campos ultimately chose not to bring in a new No. 9. Now, with Gonçalo Ramos sidelined due to injury, it’s easy to see why PSG might regret not pursuing Šeško.

The 21-year-old is continuing his impressive form in the 2024-25 season, with seven goals and three assists in 14 matches across all competitions. So far, his decision to stay with Leipzig is paying off.

Sky Sport Germany’s Philipp Hinze reports that Šeško has a “gentleman’s agreement” with RB Leipzig, allowing him to leave next summer if a bid of €70 million and €75 million is received.

According to Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail, Šeško reconsidered a move to Arsenal last summer because he was concerned about being a backup to Kai Havertz.

If the London club revisits the deal, they could face more competition than before. Give Me Sport reported in September that Manchester United remain interested in signing the Leipzig forward.
