Arsenal defeated 10-man Chelsea 2-1 in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The Gunners had the first chance of the game in the seventh minute as Bukayo Saka made his way into the box, but he skied his effort.

Mamadou Sarr could’ve given the Blues the lead after he got on the end of a free kick, but he miscued his attempt.

Eberechi Eze tried to chip Robert Sanchez from the halfway line, but the goalkeeper was quick to avert the danger.

William Saliba gave Arsenal the lead after Gabriel Magalhaes headed Saka’s corner towards him. The Frenchman’s header bounced off Sarr and into the empty net.

Declan Rice could’ve doubled the Gunners’ lead after Saka found him at the edge of the area, but he hammered his effort well over.

Chelsea almost equalised after Reece James’ corner flicked off Rice at the near post, but David Raya was quick to claw the ball behind for a corner.

The Blues drew level from the resulting corner after James’ delivery was flicked into his own net by Piero Hincapie.

The Blues resumed the break with intensity and almost took the lead in the 51st minute when Enzo Fernandez tried his luck from distance,

However, Raya was quick to parry the Argentine’s effort away.

James sent in a teasing ball, which was flicked to the back post by Joao Pedro, but Cole Palmer couldn’t make clean contact with the ball.

Arsenal retook the lead from another set-piece after Jurriën Timber met Rice’s delivery from a corner.

Pedro Neto received a second yellow card for a foul on Gabriel Martinelli, after his initial caution for dissent following Arsenal’s goal. The Portuguese was given his marching orders.

Saka teed up with Eze in the Blues’ box, but Sanchez denied him to keep Chelsea in the game.

Moises Caicedo was the next to test Raya from a distance, but he sliced his effort wide of the right post.

Alejandro Garnacho whipped in a cross which nestled towards the far corner, but Raya denied him a late equaliser.

Liam Delap thought he had restored parity for Chelsea at the death after Pedro’s acrobatic effort was parried into his path, but the offside flag denied him.

Arsenal have now reclaimed their five-point title advantage over Manchester City, who still have a game in hand.
