Arsenal sign key defender on permanent deal | OneFootball

Arsenal have signed defender Piero Hincapie on a five-year permanent deal worth £34.5 million from Bayer Leverkusen, after the Ecuadorian spent last season on loan at the London club.

Hincapie was an integral part of Arsenal’s Premier League-winning campaign and made 39 appearances in all competitions.

The defender made his debut for the Gunners in a 2-0 win away to Athletic Club in the Champions League in September 2025, and won Arsenal’s Player of the Month award in February and April.

Hincapie signs from Leverkusen where he made 166 appearances across four seasons and helped them lift their first Bundesliga title in the 2023/24 campaign when they ended the domestic season unbeaten.

The 24-year-old has made 54 senior international appearances for his country, as well as representing them at four major tournaments, including the current FIFA World Cup 2026.
