Viktor Gyokeres has made it clear that he wants to come to the Premier League this summer.
Arsenal are trying to agree a deal to sign the Sporting striker, who scored 54 goals in 52 games in all competitions last season.
And revealing his ambition to play in the Premier League, Gyokeres told L’Equipe: “It’s one of the biggest leagues in Europe.
“I spent several years there (in England) without being able to play a single match (in the Premier League). So, of course, it’s something I would like to do. It would be a great revenge.”
On his future, Gyokeres continued: “If something is going to happen, it will happen. The most important thing for me is to play for a club that really wants me.”
Noni Madueke, meanwhile, is closing in on completing his move to Arsenal from Chelsea.
Blues boss Enzo Maresca revealed ahead of his side’s Club World Cup final against PSG that the winger has left the USA to head back to London ahead of completing his move.
Chelsea have confirmed another departure ahead of Madueke’s likely exit, with Mathis Amougou joining Strasbourg just six months after arriving at the Blues.
He also looks set to be followed out of the exit door by Djordje Petrovic, with the Blues having agreed a fee with Bournemouth for the goalkeeper, and young defender Zak Sturge, who Hayters.com understands will complete a transfer to Millwall.
Nicolas Jackson is also attracting interest from AC Milan, according to the Daily Mail, but it would take a significant sum to prise him away from the club.
Elsewhere, Newcastle United have completed the signing of winger Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest in a £55m deal.
And Morgan Gibbs-White’s proposed move to Tottenham is on hold due to Nottingham Forest’s frustration with how Spurs have approached the transfer and are considering legal action, according to various reports.
