Gunners face LaLiga outfit in second pre-season clash in Dublin

The Gunners kicked off the summer with a behind-closed-doors win over MK Dons and followed that up with a 4-1 victory against Girona at the weekend, claiming the Costa Brava trophy in the process.

After a week-long training camp in Catalonia, Mikel Arteta’s side will now head to Dublin, Ireland for the second leg of their mini-summer tour of Europe to face Spanish opposition once again.

Real Betis, managed by ex-Manchester City and West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini, have been back in training since the weekend of the World Cup final, so are much further along in their preparation than Arsenal.

Of the five friendlies played, Betis have won four and were mightily impressive in the convincing win over Lyon.

Arsenal vs Real Betis is scheduled for a 7.30pm BST kick-off today on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

The match will take place at the Aviva Stadium.

Arsenal vs Real Betis team news

Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli could make their first appearances of the summer after being left out of the squad to face Girona because of being late to join up with the squad.

Elsewhere, Arteta may look to increase the workload for Kai Havertz, Viktor Gyokeres and Piero Hincapie after the trio were replaced after half an hour at the weekend as part of pre-planned changes.

Christian Norgaard is rumoured to be closing in on a move to Everton, so is unlikely to feature here, while the game is likely to come too soon for captain Martin Odegaard as he is expected to return this week from his post-World Cup holiday.

David Raya, Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze remain on holiday, and Jurrien Timber is a doubt.

The Real Betis squad features many familiar faces including Junior Firpo, Pablo Fornals, Isco and former Manchester United winger Anthony.

However, the game will be a special one for Hector Bellerin as he is set to come up against his former club for the first time since leaving in 2021.

Real Betis should provide a much sterner test for Arsenal than Girona did at the weekend. Their form in pre-season suggests they will pose questions for the Gunners defensively.

For Arteta’s side, it’s all about getting players up to match sharpness. That said, we expect Arsenal to be too strong with the likes of Max Dowman, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Christos Tzolis out to impress again.
