Arsenal are considering a move to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa after adding the midfielder to their summer shortlist.

Rogers enjoyed a breakout campaign at Aston Villa last season to win the club’s Young Player of the Year award. The 22-year-old scored 14 goals and added 15 assists across all competitions and has broken into the senior England side.

Arsenal are now weighing up an offer, as Mikel Arteta seeks to add goals to his side. Rogers’ ability to play multiple positions appeals to Arsenal, having shone through the middle and from the left for Aston Villa.

Villa also require at least one big sale due to Premier League Profit and Sustainability concerns and Rogers would represent a huge profit, having been signed for just £8m from Middlesbrough 18 months ago. However, Unai Emery views Rogers as a key part of the project and Villa have no intention to sell.

Arsenal are aware of the huge cost involved and have shortlisted cheaper alternatives, including Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane and Feyenoord winger Igor Paixão.

The Times are reporting that Arsenal have held initial talks with Sane, who is out of contract at Bayern Munich. Mikel Arteta previously worked with the German at Manchester City. Bayern remain keen to keep the 29-year-old and have offered Sane a new deal.

Paixão is also a player of interest, having been named Dutch Footballer of the Year in 2024/25.

The Brazilian scored 16 goals and created 14 more in the Eredivisie last summer. Arsenal are also still tracking Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao. The Spain international has a reported release clause of around €60m (£51m).
