League leaders Arsenal travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday looking to extend their advantage at the top of the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta’s side are currently four points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand. Crucially, they remain unbeaten in their last six visits to Chelsea. Consequently, confidence will be high in the Gunners’ camp. Arsenal have been ruthless on the road this season. In fact, they have taken 13 points from 15 available away from home.
Furthermore, they boast an excellent record in London derbies. They have lost just three of their last 40 such matches. With a victory potentially opening a seven-point gap, Arteta will demand a performance that reaffirms their status as title favourites.
Mikel Arteta has provided a mixed injury update ahead of this clash. Leandro Trossard faces a late fitness test. The forward is undergoing further assessments after picking up an issue, but the manager confirmed there is a “potential chance” he could play.
In a significant boost, Gabriel Jesus has returned to match action. He featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly alongside teenager Ethan Nwaneri to build fitness. While Jesus is back on the pitch, Arteta wants to ensure he has sufficient exposure to competition before a full competitive return.
The Gunners are also monitoring Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz. Both are “getting closer and closer” to a return after repeat scans. While Arteta stopped short of confirming their involvement this weekend, he remained positive.
Arsenal predicted XI: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Hincapié, Calafiori; Zubimendi, Rice, Ødegaard; Saka, Merino, Eze
