AS Monaco play their final home game of the season on Sunday at 21:00, hosting Lille on Ligue 1 matchday 33. According to Nice-Matin, coach Sébastien Pocognoli has ruled out Caio Henrique.
Monaco won 2-1 at Metz last week and sit sixth. Lille are fourth on 58 points, with 54 for ASM, and the Principality club are currently in the UEFA Conference League places with two fixtures left.
Pocognoli said Henrique experienced discomfort during the week and will undergo tests, with more clarity expected in the coming days. There are no returns to report.
Paul Pogba, who started in Metz but looked short of rhythm, remains a case-by-case call. Pocognoli said choices depend on the team’s needs, the opposition and each player’s physical and mental state, and that starting him then made sense, adding they will again pick what is best in the coming games.
He believes Pogba can provide creativity, whether through technique, vision or clever movement, but the next step is matching those qualities with Ligue 1 intensity. The staff aim to set a plan that lets players’ strengths shine, and the coach has urged his side to raise the level to compete with Lille and Strasbourg.
They want to finish strongly, yet a full six points would not necessarily secure Europe, as other results will also matter. The tally can be made afterwards.
