AS Monaco are overhauling their backroom after finishing seventh, with greater sway for Vadim Khetagov and a spate of departures.

According to Nice-Matin, the board acted early, dismissing Performance Director Yann Le Meur and fitness coach Sandy Guichard in March. A video analyst later left, while Pierre Amitrano has joined Le Gym.

After the 17 May finale in Strasbourg, Thiago Scuro said solutions and a new sporting project were needed, adding it might be time to change the team and staff and that Monaco must rediscover their identity.

Behind the scenes, departments are being reshaped to expand kinesiologist Khetagov’s remit. Placed by president Rybolovlev, he is said to hold near-total control of physical and medical, and his methods are still failing to convince. At La Turbie his base has grown, and an academy physio earmarked to assist him was dismissed, apparently after voicing reluctance.

Since the start of summer, at least four or five departures have been confirmed in performance and medical. In early July head doctor Alexandre Creuzé left for Real Madrid and has begun there.

He is not expected to be replaced, with only one doctor, Fabrice Busnel, understood to remain. Long-serving athletic lead Bruno Marrier and physio Jérôme Palestri have also been asked to leave.

The physio group has dropped from six to four to concentrate resources around Khetagov, and tensions linger. Javier Arnaiz, who arrived in April to replace Le Meur, is far from unanimous and his management has caused friction. Results will judge the overhaul.
