AS Monaco are said to have decided to part with performance director Yann Le Meur, with a fitness coach also affected, amid a spate of injuries this season.
Earlier on Saturday, L’Équipe reported the performance chief could be removed in the near future. However, the decision is understood to have already been communicated between the Champions League tie in Paris on Wednesday 25 February and the home game with Angers on Saturday night.
Le Meur has led a department of around 20 staff since late 2023, following James Bunce’s departure. He previously headed sports science, then development, at the Principality club.
Lauded by some peers as the best in France at his role, he had been under pressure for weeks because of repeated absences among Monaco players. Recently, the Paris-born executive is said to have been particularly strained by the situation.
A fitness coach is also believed to have been let go this week. The pair are thought to be far from the only factors behind the injury crisis.
The timing may raise eyebrows, as Monaco have started to find stability in results and several injured players should return soon. The club have already adjusted the hierarchy, with technical director Carlos Aviña handed broader oversight of the medical and performance areas.
