AS Roma and Lecce go head-to-head in Serie A at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.
Roma chase Champions League qualification and aim to halt a worrying winless streak, while Lecce battle to stay clear of the drop zone.
AS Roma are still without Paulo Dybala, Evan Ferguson, Artem Dovbyk and Matias Soule. All four forwards remain sidelined with Dovbyk and Ferguson out for the whole season.
Manu Kone is also on the list of doubtful players and is highly likely to sit out this match as well.
Wesley, the wing-back, is suspended after his red card against Como and will not be available to feature.
Donyell Malen has started every single match since February during the congested schedule and is set to start once again and lead the line for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
Lecce, coached by former Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco, are dealing with several fitness concerns of their own.
Medon Berisha and Francesco Camarda remain doubtful and both of them will be further assessed before deciding on whether they are capable of returning to the pitch.
Lassana Coulibaly, Riccardo Sottil, and Kialonda Gaspar are all sidelined with their respective injuries and are not expected to return before early April.
Omri Gandelman is set to start in place of Coulibaly while Nikola Stelic might still start for Lecce with Walid Cheddira ready to be used as a substitute later on in the game if required.
Roma’s form has tailed off at a critical stage of the season, with the Giallorossi winless in their last five matches in all competitions and conceding an average of over two goals per game across that run.
Recently, Gasperini’s side were involved in a chaotic 4-3 extra-time defeat to Bologna in the Europa League on Thursday (3-3 after 90 minutes), a result that knocked them out of the competition.
Lecce have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks, recording three wins in their last six Serie A games to give their survival bid a timely boost, even if a 2-1 defeat away to Napoli last time out highlighted their ongoing struggles on the road.
Di Francesco’s team sit just above the relegation zone but have taken enough points lately to suggest they can trouble sides in the top half
AS Roma: Svilar; Mancini, Ndicka, Ghilardi; Celik, Cristante, El Aynaoui, Tsimikas; Pisilli, Pellegrini; Malen
Lecce: Falcone; Veiga, Gabriel, Siebert, Gallo; Ramadani, Ngom; Pierotti, Gandelman, Banda; Stulic
