Assistant hails Mirassol, notes Corinthians’ defensive improvement

Corinthians secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Mirassol. The team had Lucas Silvestre on the sidelines, who replaced Dorival Júnior after the coach was expelled against Internacional. In the press conference, he assessed the performance and praised the opponent.

"First of all, congratulations to the work and team of Mirassol, not for nothing at the start of the round they were in fifth place in the championship. For me, Guanaes is the best coach in the championship, a team that does a differentiated job, which is beautiful to watch play, and we knew the difficulty of the game, the challenges the opponent would impose on us," Lucas Silvestre began.

Unlike the last two matches, when Corinthians was more aggressive in defense and attack, against Mirassol, Timão preferred to start more reactively, betting on the effectiveness of the attack.

"Against Flamengo Internacional, especially the first half against Flamengo and the whole game against Internacional, our team was very aggressive, without the ball, and with the ball, we managed to play, managed to involve Flamengo at many moments. Against Internacional, we suffered little in the first half of the game and today was a slightly different game, a game where we didn't have the ball from the start," the assistant explained.

"We defended very well, especially during the second half, we managed to defend very well and more than that, the effectiveness when attacking. It's essential that in moments when we suffer a little more in the match, or when we are under pressure, that when we manage to fit the counterattacks, we can be as effective as possible."

Now, after hosting Mirassol at home for the Brazilian Championship, Corinthians remains fully focused on the national competition but will only return to the field on October 15, Wednesday, after the FIFA Date period. At 9:30 PM (Brasília time), the People's Team will visit Santos at Vila Belmiro for the 28th round of the Brasileirão.
