“I'm only thinking about where I'm wanted, and I'm wanted at Aston Villa.”

Real are holding a presidential election, and reports in Spain had linked candidate Enrique Riquelme with targeting Emery.

Emery was in Madrid for the Golden Bench Awards Gala, where he was honoured after leading Villa to Europa League glory.

He signed a five-year Villa contract in 2024.

He was first linked earlier in the year after Xabi Alonso was sacked midway through the season. The winner, due Sunday, will choose Alonso’s permanent successor, with Florentino Perez planning Jose Mourinho if re-elected and Riquelme said to want Jurgen Klopp.

Emery’s focus now shifts to strengthening for the Premier League and Champions League.

Villa are among the clubs pursuing Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye, who is with Senegal at the World Cup and no decision is likely until after it.

Morgan Rogers has interest from several European clubs, with Bayern Munich linked, but Villa do not intend to sell and will play hardball.

Right-back Andres Garcia is available to leave, with Lyon interested in the 23-year-old.
