Aston Villa supporters have expressed anger after being allocated only 1,699 tickets for next Thursday’s Europa League semi-final first leg at Nottingham Forest, kicking off at 8pm.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the clubs discussed the away allocation before Wednesday’s confirmation of the final figure.

The number is about 1,300 fewer than Villa received for their Premier League trip to the City Ground earlier this month, a match that finished 1-1.

UEFA regulations require a minimum away allocation of five per cent of stadium capacity for Europa League ties, and the City Ground holds just over 30,000.

In replies to the club’s post on X, several Villa fans urged the club to limit Forest’s allocation to the minimum for the return on 3 May, calling for a tit-for-tat approach. One Forest supporter expressed sympathy and predicted Villa would almost certainly reciprocate, describing the move as poor from Forest.
