Aston Villa hand Bournemouth their first back-to-back Premier League defeat since May | OneFootball

Aston Villa returned to winning ways in the Premier League, beating Bournemouth 4-0 on Sunday.

Both teams created early chances. Bournemouth’s Evanilson called Emiliano into action before Matty Cash’s effort was saved by Djordje Petrovic at the other end.

The Serbian goalkeeper made another crucial stop, denying Boubacar Kamara from giving Villa the lead.

The visitors responded immediately as Martinez turned Alex Scott’s effort behind, keeping the scores level.

Villa drew first blood in the 28th minute through Emi Buendia, who curled a free-kick beyond Petrovic.

The hosts’ last five Premier League goals have now been scored from outside the area – the fourth time a side have managed to do so in the competition.

The Argentine’s goal gave the hosts momentum, and they doubled their lead in the 40th minute with another fantastic finish.

Amadou Onana picked up possession outside the area before rifling the ball past Petrovic and into the net.

Alex Jimenez had the chance to pull one back for the Cherries, but Martinez prevented his effort from breaching his goal.

The Cherries began the second half on the front foot as Martinez was called into action by Scott before Evanilson struck the post before the hour mark.

John McGinn, who recorded a personal milestone against Maccabi Tel Aviv, got the Villans’ first chance of the second half, forcing Petrovic to make a save.

Bournemouth were awarded a penalty in the 65th minute after Morgan Rogers committed a handball, only to be denied by the impressive Martinez.

Substitute Ross Barkley gave Villa a three-goal cushion with a glancing header from Lucas Digne’s brilliant delivery.

Shortly after, fellow substitute Donyell Malen got on the act, smashing a right-footed shot into the net from a corner.

Bournemouth have now lost two consecutive Premier League games for the first time since May.
