Aston Villa are interested in Newcastle United flop Nick Woltemade, according to AS.
The Villains are in the market for attacking reinforcements to bolster their squad, and Woltemade is one of the players on their shortlist.
Aston Villa won the Europa League and qualified for the Champions League, meaning they desperately need more options to call upon.
Woltemade has caught the eye of the Villans despite a poor campaign for Newcastle following his €85 million summer switch.
He struggled with the rigours of English football, bagging eight goals and three assists in 33 Premier League appearances. That has not stopped Villa from showing interest.
They could potentially meet Newcastle’s asking price for the striker, even though they already have Ollie Watkins and Tammy Abraham on their books.
However, Villa are not alone in the race to sign him. Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund would like to take him on loan.
A move to Villa could be exactly the reset Woltemade needs.
Unai Emery has built a reputation as one of Europe’s best coaches at polishing rough diamonds, transforming talented but inconsistent players into reliable performers.
From revitalising Ollie Watkins to helping Morgan Rogers reach another level, the Spaniard has repeatedly shown he can unlock potential others fail to maximise.
Woltemade fits that mould perfectly. The 6ft 6in striker he offers an unusual blend of height, technical quality and intelligence between the lines.
The Villa target is capable of linking play as comfortably as he can operate inside the penalty area.
That distinctive profile is the type Emery has often thrived with, giving him tactical flexibility and a different dimension in attack.
In Emery’s structured, detail-oriented system, Woltemade’s unique profile could flourish, making this a partnership that has all the ingredients to become a match made in heaven.
