Aston Villa receive Joao Palhinha boost as Bayern ‘plan’ exit | OneFootball

Aston Villa’s pursuit of Joao Palhinha may have received a lift after Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund outlined the midfielder’s standing under Vincent Kompany.

“They’re training with us, but they won’t play an important role here. I know they’re aware of that,” he told Abendzeitung.

“They’re both good players. They’ll continue to train and play here for now, but the plan is for them to take the next step somewhere else.”

The former Fulham midfielder spent last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur and has been linked with a move to Villa Park.

Palhinha featured in a friendly against Wehen Wiesbaden, though he and full-back Sacha Boey are set to continue training while being prepared for a move elsewhere.
