Aston Villa striker 'on' Man Utd shortlist if Rasmus Højlund departs | OneFootball

Manchester United have Ollie Watkins on their shortlist in the event that Rasmus Højlund leaves the club this summer according to the Athletic's Laurie Whitwell.

According to the club reporter, there has been contact between United and Villa, via intermediaries, to explore a potential deal as striker options are weighed up at Old Trafford.

There has been links with a whole host of forwards this summer, most notably Viktor Gyökeres, Victor Osimhen and Hugo Ekitike, as Ruben Amorim looks to add much-needed goals to his side.

A big-money deal for Matheus Cunha has already been sealed, and the current focus is on completing a move for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, but a striker will be required if Højlund departs.

There is reportedly interest from several clubs in the Danish international, who endured a wretched 2024/25 campaign, scoring just four Premier League goals.

Watkins, who has three years left on his contract, has been a standout performer since joining Villa in 2020, scoring 75 Premier League goals and hitting double digits in each of his last five seasons.
