Aston Villa target winger as Morgan Rogers nears £117m Chelsea move | OneFootball

Unai Emery is preparing a significant squad rebuild at Aston Villa, with a new winger among his priorities this summer.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Villa are weighing winger options as Morgan Rogers closes on a British record £117m move to Chelsea, the Halesowen-born midfielder having undergone a medical in London on Monday.

Left-back Lucas Digne is also close to joining Paris Saint-Germain after travelling to France following his World Cup return. A release clause of around £8m in the 33-year-old France international’s contract has been triggered.

Should those exits be finalised, Villa would have raised about £160m over the past week, following Youri Tielemans’ £35m move to Manchester United.

Leon Bailey is another likely departure, with Premier League newcomers Hull City in talks over a possible deal. Villa are also prepared to listen to offers for Evann Guessand.

Emery is pushing to add reinforcements after Joao Gomes became the club’s second signing of the window. The 25-year-old Brazilian joined from Wolves for £38m on Monday and could feature at Walsall on Tuesday evening.

Club-record signing Johan Manzambi will report next month after post-World Cup leave. Villa remain in talks with AC Milan over left-back Pervis Estupinan and could revisit Flamengo right-back Emerson Royal later in the summer.

Emery admires Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, Villa have heavily scouted PSG teenager Ibrahim Mbaye, and enquiries over Newcastle’s Harvey Barnes were made earlier in the summer.
