Aston Villa are preparing for life without Emiliano Martinez and they have identified RC Lens’s Robin Risser and Toulouse’s Guillaume Restes as options to replace him, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.

The 33-year-old Villa hero could leave the Midlands club in the summer, and Villans manager Unai Emery has been looking at the goalkeeping market.

Risser, who is a contender for Ligue 1’s best goalkeeper award for the season, is their top target, but luring the 21-year-old to Villa Park could prove tricky.

The Frenchman has 11 clean sheets in 32 league appearances this term and has conceded 33 goals.

The Villa target is already on the radar of the French national team Didier Deschamps, with his goalkeeping staff regularly scouting Risser.

However, Lens, currently second in Ligue 1, are unwilling to lose such a player as they prepare for Champions League football.

Villa may need to break the bank to have a chance of tempting the French club, and Restes is seen as a contingency plan.

The 21-year-old Toulouse star has nine clean sheets in 33 league games this season and has shipped 45 goals.

Risser has only 32 French top-flight appearances to his name, but Restes has played almost 100 Ligue 1 games for Toulouse and is highly-rated.

Both goalies have huge potential and Villa are expected to also consider other options as they look to bring in the perfect replacement for Martinez.

The Argentine wanted to join Manchester United last summer before they opted for Senne Lammens, and he is still expected to seek an exit.

Villa could end this season with the Europa League trophy after booking a place in the final against Bundesliga club Freiburg, but it will not stop Martinez from leaving from the look of things.
