If a report from the ED is believed to be true, Aston Villa hold a strong interest in Spanish youngster Jesús Rodríguez. Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are also keeping close tabs, but the Villans are leading the race for the Spanish attacker. German giants RB Leipzig submitted an offer of around €20m, but the Europa League runners-up would demand more, considering his release clause of around €50m.
The teenage ace progressed through the academy ranks of Nervión, Betis and Calavera before returning to Los Verdiblancos’ reserves in 2023. He initially featured for Betis Deportivo Balompié in the lower leagues but was handed his senior debut last October. Rodridugez made significant strides under Manuel Pellegrini, as the veteran Chilean handed him 32 first-team appearances across competitions.
Although he netted only three times and laid on two more while featuring from the flanks, the promises exhibited already in his maiden senior season should see him improve his numbers from the next campaign onwards. Scouts from top European outfits are impressed with his development in Spanish football; however, Unai Emery has an advantage over the other suitors, considering his reputation, experience and contacts back in the homeland.

Betis, meanwhile, are focusing on having Antony on permanent terms following a successful winter loan from Manchester United. They have a sell-to-buy policy to sustain their financial position, and therefore, would consider the right offer for the Spain U21 international in the summer window.
A controversial final-day defeat against Man United snatched the Champions League status from Aston Villa. They would be under scrutiny for the Premier League’s PSR, which now prevents them from a spending spree over the next couple of months. Moreover, missing out on a Champions League berth has jeopardised a permanent move for Marcus Rashford, as the Red Devils attacker is reportedly open to reducing his salary in favour of a high-profile move to Barcelona.
Despite having John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey as makeshift left midfielders, Villa must sign a specialist who would offer flair, finesse, and directness in attack. Rashford has had a productive spell since joining on loan earlier this year, but the club must find a long-term solution unless the Englishman changes his mind.
Rodriguez has been deployed on both flanks, but he prefers to operate from the left as an inverted winger. The teenager has a very high ceiling, and the training and guidance of Emery should help him flourish and fulfil his potential.
