Aston Villa travel to Manchester United on the Premier League’s final weekend looking to secure Champions League qualification.
Unai Emery’s side are outside the top five on goal difference, but will secure a place in the Champions League with a win if either Newcastle or Chelsea fail to do so, or Manchester City lose at Fulham. A point will be enough if either Newcastle or Chelsea lose.
Having not qualified for Europe’s elite competition for 41 years until this season, Villa now have the opportunity to do so in consecutive campaigns. Villa head into the game having won eight of their last nine Premier League games.
In contrast, Manchester United will not play in Europe next season for just the second time in the Premier League era. The Red Devils are set for their lowest league finish since last being relegated in 1974.
Youri Tielemans is unlikely to feature with Aston Villa’s Player of the Year still suffering from a calf complaint. The on-loan Marcus Rashford is also out through both injury and ineligibility to face his parent club.
In more positive news, Jacob Ramsey is back available after serving a suspension. Emiliano Martinez could play his final game for Aston Villa this afternoon with the Argentine expected to leave this summer. Martinez has been linked with the Saudi Pro League and today’s opponents, Manchester United.
Aston Villa predicted XI: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; Kamara, Onana; Rogers, Asensio, McGinn; Watkins.
Manchester United host Aston Villa on the Premier League’s final weekend on Sunday 25th May 2025. Kick-off in all 10 fixtures is 4pm BST.
The fixture is available in the UK on TNT Sports.
