Milan Primavera managed to fight their way back into the game against Atalanta, scoring early in the second half to clinch a point. In many ways, however, it’s back to the drawing board for Federico Guidi.

The Rossoneri headed into the game with some optimism, following the Coppa Italia win on penalties against Genoa, but there were also some absences to note: Mattia Liberali (fever), Adam Bakoune (injury), Maxi Ibrahimovic and Matteo Dutu (Milan Futuro).

In any case, as the first half kicked off, it became quite clear that Atalanta wanted the win more. They created many chances and eventually broke the deadlock in the 39th minute, converting a penalty after a foul by Federico Colombo.

To be honest, it could have been more goal but lucky for Milan, the scores remained 1-0 as they headed into half-time. For the second half, Guidi made some changes and one of the players he brought in, Lorenzo Ossola, was decisive.

Just three minutes into the second half, Ossola fired away a lovely shot from distance which hit the underside of the crossbar. It looked to have gone in but Dorian Paloschi headed in the rebound, ending any discussion of whether it had crossed the line or not.

It was a great reaction in the second half, in other words, but from there Milan faded and the game ended 0-0. Technically speaking, it was a game to forget and a very poor pitch didn’t help matters, but at the end of the day it’s an important point considering the onslaught in the first half.
