Athletic Club close agreement with next manager | OneFootball

The board at La Liga outfit Athletic Club have reached an agreement on the terms of a contract with the club’s next head coach.

This comes amid confirmation of Edin Terzić preparing to take his place on the touchline in Bilbao.

It has of course long been common knowledge that a change is in store on the bench at Athletic Club this summer.

After Ernesto Valverde announced his intention to step down upon the season’s end, the brass at San Mamés were tasked with sourcing a replacement to lead the club into a new era.

The aforementioned Terzić was quickly named as the frontrunner for the post, despite having been out of work since departing Borussia Dortmund back in 2024.

And as alluded to above, this week, Athletic appear to have secured their man.

As per a report from journalist and European football insider Florian Plettenberg:

‘Edin Terzić to Athletic Bilbao – done deal. Terzić will become the new head coach next season. Full agreement with the 43 y/o former BVB manager. He will replace Ernesto Valverde. Contract until 2028.’
