Athletic have signed midfielder Gustavinho from América-MG as they reshape their squad for Série B. According to Globo.com, the 24-year-old has joined for the remainder of 2026.

An América-MG academy graduate, he left the club at the end of 2025.

Gustavinho spent 2023 on loan at Grêmio, winning the Campeonato Gaúcho and the Recopa Gaúcha under Renato Portaluppi.

Athletic are preparing for their Copa do Brasil opener against Rio Branco-ES on Wednesday at Estádio Kléber Andrade in Cariacica, kick-off 20:00.

It will also be Alex’s first match as head coach of the Esquadrão de Aço.
