Atletico Madrid: Ademola Lookman explains his decision to sign for the Madrid club

Ademola Lookman spoke in recent hours to Atlético Madrid's media as the Spanish club's newest signing. The Nigerian revealed the reason behind his choice.

Although he was very close to joining Fenerbahçe during this winter transfer window, Ademola Lookman ultimately left Atalanta Bergamo for Atletico Madrid in a deal reportedly worth 40 million euros. Speaking to the media on Tuesday during his official presentation, the Nigerian international explained his decision.

"It's a blessing for me to be here. I'm very happy. It's fantastic for me to be here. It's a great responsibility to represent my country, but it's also a pleasure to wear the colors of such a special club as Atletico. So I'm very proud. I had a good conversation with Diego Simeone before arriving," Lookman said.
