The growing controversy surrounding Real Madrid is no longer limited to the club itself, with the dressing room tensions now becoming one of the biggest talking points across Spanish football.

In recent days, reports of an altercation between Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni have created major debate around Real Madrid’s internal atmosphere.

Simeone’s reaction

One of the latest figures asked to comment on the controversy was Diego Simeone. 

The Atletico Madrid manager was questioned about the reports during a media appearance and was specifically asked whether he could remember a similar situation taking place at Real Madrid during his long spell coaching Atletico.

However, Simeone made it clear that he had no intention of becoming involved in the debate publicly.

Choosing his words carefully, the Argentine coach was quoted by Mundo Deportivo as saying, “I am very respectful; people know me. 

“I understand the question and it is logical to ask it, but I am very respectful when it comes to this sort of thing. 

“However, I cannot comment because I am not there with them.”

With that brief statement, Simeone avoided adding further fuel to the growing storm around Real Madrid, despite the fact that the topic continues to dominate football discussions in Spain.

It must be noted that questions surrounding the squad’s atmosphere have emerged during a period where the team is already facing criticism for inconsistent performances and uncertainty surrounding the club’s future direction.

As such, the fallout involving Valverde and Tchouameni has only added more instability to the dressing room environment, and the fact that rival managers are now being questioned publicly shows just how much attention the situation has attracted.
