FC Barcelona have made the signing of a new centre-back a priority for the summer of 2026, having felt the absence of Inigo Martinez since his departure earlier this year.
While the Catalans prefer bringing in a left-footed central defender, a profile that is missing in the squad currently, they have also taken an interest in Marc Guehi.
The 25-year-old England international is out of contract at Crystal Palace at the end of the season and will be leaving as a free agent in the summer.
Barcelona have been alerted to the market opportunity, considering the quality of the player and the fact that he would arrive without a transfer fee. However, competition for his signing has been growing intense.
Apart from Barcelona, teams such as Bayern Munich and Liverpool are already interested in signing Guehi.
Now, according to Matteo Moretto on MARCA, Atletico Madrid have also joined the race to sign the Crystal Palace defender in the summer.

Former Barcelona director Mateu Alemany, now in charge of transfer operations for Atletico, is keen on the signing and is very attentive to Guehi’s situation.
In fact, the report states that the Rojiblancos have already established contact with the player’s representative to explore the possibility of a transfer.
Guehi can negotiate with any club of his choice outside England, starting from January, with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Atletico Madrid now positioning themselves as options.
Meanwhile, several top clubs from the Premier League also remain interested in the 25-year-old former Chelsea star.
So, Barcelona might need to make a very lucrative contract proposal if they are to beat their competitors in the race to sign Guehi.
