Atlético Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has early this week sent a firm message to La Liga rivals Barcelona.
This comes amid the stout assurance that Julián Alvarez will not be allowed to depart Spain’s capital for either the Blaugrana or any other club this summer.
Frontman Alvarez has of course dominated the headlines across Spain over the course of recent days.
After word was forthcoming that Barcelona had ramped up their efforts to bring in the Argentine international as Robert Lewandowski’s replacement, it was confirmed that a big-money offer had been tabled by the Camp Nou brass.
Atlético Madrid did not take at all kindly to the situation, responding with a series of bizarre posts across the club’s social media platforms.
And as alluded to above, on Monday, Rojiblancos president Enrique Cerezo has doubled down.
Drawn on Alvarez’s future during an exchange with the media earlier today, Cerezo assured:
“Julián Álvarez is an Atlético de Madrid player and not just for this season but for many others. We work continuously to bring the best players to our team. There’s still a lot of time to search, see, and bring them in.”
