Augsburg’s Chrislain Matsima ‘reaches agreement’ over Crystal Palace move

According to Foot Mercato, FC Augsburg’s Chrislain Matsima, 24, is said to have reached a verbal agreement with Crystal Palace.

Palace are seeking defensive reinforcements as they look to replace Maxence Lacroix, 26, whose move to Chelsea is all but confirmed. The Eagles are said to have made the Colombes-born centre-back one of their summer targets.

A graduate of the AS Monaco academy, Monaco retain a 15 per cent share of any profit on a future sale. Matsima left in summer 2024 for Germany and has since become a key figure for Augsburg in the Bundesliga.

He suffered a serious tendon injury in January, which disrupted his season, and returned only during the run-in.

Even so, he made 20 appearances for Augsburg last term, starting 19 of them.
