Augsburg defender Noahkai Banks says he has set no deadline on choosing between representing the United States or Germany.

“I know there’s a World Cup coming up. I don’t want to set myself a deadline; I’m taking my time and will decide calmly,” Banks told Kicker.

“I have a long career ahead of me, so I don’t want to base it on a single tournament.”

The centre-back has featured for the United States at youth level, though he has left open a senior switch to Germany.

He appears to have a real chance of making the United States squad for the World Cup if he chooses to play for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

This season, the 19-year-old has established himself as a regular for Augsburg, making 20 appearances.

The report added Augsburg would prefer him to represent the United States at the World Cup, which could increase his market value.
