Auxerre hijack Le Havre’s pursuit of Bournemouth midfielder Romain Faivre

AJ Auxerre have reportedly gazumped Le Havre in the race to sign Bournemouth midfielder Romain Faivre (27), according to Paris-Normandie. The Norman side thought they had signed the former Lorient man on loan for the remainder of the season, but they have been reportedly outbid by their Ligue 1 rivals regarding Faivre’s wages. Le Havre even scheduled a medical for the the Frenchman.

Currently contracted to AFC Bournemouth until 2028, Faivre is on loan at Al-Taawoun, but his stint in Saudi Arabia has proven short-lived. The 27-year-old has made just five appearances since joining in the summer, scoring once, and has not featured since October 23rd. Auxerre will play Ligue 1 leaders RC Lens on Saturday.
