Marc Guehi carved himself out a piece of history after Manchester City beat Chelsea to win the FA Cup on Saturday.
Guehi was part of theManchester City team that secured a 1-0 win at Wembley, courtesy of Antoine Semenyo's brilliant backheeled winner.
For Guehi, it's a second straight season celebrating under the Wembley arch, having been part of the Crystal Palace team that beat current club Manchester City in the competition last season. ThatFA Cup win sealed Palace's first-ever major trophy.
The England centre-back has become only the fourth player to win the FA Cup in successive seasons with different teams, and only the second this century.
Arthur Kinnaird was the first player to do so, a whopping 147 years ago. Kinnaird, incredibly, played in a record-breaking nine FA Cup finals, winning the trophy five times.
He won the FA Cup in back-to-back seasons with Wanderers F.C. in 1878 and Old Etonians F.C. in 1879. Kinnaird later served as president of the FA for more than three decades.
It was a century before another player repeated the feat. Brian Talbot was part of the Ipswich Town team that beat Arsenal in 1978, before transferring to the Gunners that summer.
The following season, Talbot tasted FA Cup success again, as Arsenal beat Manchester United 3-2 in the famous "Five-minute Final". Talbot missed out on a third consecutive cup win when Arsenal lost to West Ham in 1980.
Before Guehi's successive cup wins, Olivier Giroud was the only player to achieve the feat this century. Giroud was part of the Arsenal team that beat Chelsea in 2017, before joining the Blues the following season. Chelsea beat Manchester United 1-0 in the 2018 final.
Remarkably, it means three of the back-to-back winners with different clubs all won their second trophy with the opposition team beaten in their first final.
