Zara Bailey and Jhanaie Pierre were amongst the goals for England Under-17s as they helped their nation to a 3-1 win over Czech Republic on Thursday evening.
Our Academy duo both started for the Young Lionesses at the Pinatar Arena, Spain, in the second game of their MIMA Cup campaign, with Jhanaie and Zara both finding the back of the net in the final minutes of the clash to secure back-to-back wins in the tournament.
Eva Hendle levelled the scoring with just four minutes left on the clock to cancel out Stella Balazsova’s opener for the Czech Republic, and Natalie Henderson’s side weren’t finished there.
Jhanaie scored her first goal at England Under-17 level to put her nation ahead just a minute after the equaliser and, in stoppage time, Zara sealed the win for England as she fired home from the penalty spot to make it a perfect start in the MIMA Cup.
Zara has played 180 minutes across two games for England this week while Jhanaie has played over just 100 minutes, with the pair falso eaturing in the opening game of the tournament as they won 2-1 against Canada on Tuesday.
Next up is a clash with Mexico on Saturday evening (6pm UK).
