Talk has reignited after Achraf Hakimi's interview with Canal+. The Moroccan defender declared himself the clear favorite for the trophy. His statements sparked reactions among many fans, with some believing he should have shown more support for Dembélé.

Additionally, a video of the Super Cup victory celebration has done little to calm the critics. In the clip, Dembélé is surrounded by several teammates, including Hakimi, as fans chant “EH OUSMANE BALLON D’OR!”. According to some social media users, Hakimi's reaction—turning his head away at the moment of the cheers—was seen as awkward.

On social media, the comments are flying: “Look how quickly he turned away, what a hypocrite?”, “Hakimi has to leave this club”, “it’s embarrassing for Hakimi” and also “What was he supposed to do? Applaud and sing along with them? It’s embarrassing for Hakimi.”

The Ballon d'Or is set to keep stirring debate at PSG right up until September 22.
